Assistant Technician Full Time

Your Opportunity

We are looking for Assistant Technician-Structured Cabling Network Copper/Fibre to carryout preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on structured fibre optic and copper cabling systems individually or as part of a technical team, within the business designated area, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the business operations.

Key accountabilities

• Ability to conform to all general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety & welfare of self and others at work
•  Any other work as assigned by the Structured Cabling supervisor/duty engineer to achieve the purpose
• Can read interpret and describe the functionality of drawings (circuit and wiring diagrams/schematic and layout drawings) irrespective of manufacturer
• Can correctly setup and use electrical test equipment and interpret the test results to include:
  – Digital Multi meter
  – Fibre optic power meter
  – Fibre optic light source
  – Fibre multi meter
  – Optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR)
  – Fibre fault locator
• Knowledge in the use & interpretation of Local and International Electrical Standards and Regulations.
• Assets Exposure (Direct) Major assets below, but not limited to:
  – Fibre Optic Racks • Patch panels
  – SM/MM fibre optic splicing enclosures
  – Cat6 Cabling
  – Transceivers and converters
  – Fibre optic test equipment’ and Tools
• Delivers Customer Service Sees those they interact with as customers and seeks to identify and meet needs, taking swift action to resolve issues with integrity. Always alert to the customer’s point of view and demonstrates a sense of urgency
• Delivers Against Team Objectives Sets clear team objectives and establishes courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed on time.
• Engaging Communication Engages and influences others by using a wide range of communication methods and styles.

Specific requirements

• Minimum three (3) year experience within Structured Cabling environment or similar.
• Airport experience is considered as added advantage for this position
• This position requires a very good level of spoken and written English.
  – Ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders and customers in oral and written English.
  – Working knowledge in MS Office (Word / Excel / Power point) ➢ Ability to perform safely and correctly the following on Extra low voltage (ELV) equipment and systems:
  – Electrical Isolations and LOTO
  – Planned preventative maintenance (PM) routines
  – Corrective maintenance (CM)
  – Breakdown maintenance (BD) to include
  – Run, pull, stop and splice copper and fibre optic cables, such as CAT5, SE, CAT6, low voltage cables • Mount Fibre optic equipment’s and racks while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements
• High School Certificate
• IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent
• Current valid UAE driving license is desirable
