Radiographer Full Time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs work in the radiography rooms and wards on a 24-hour on-call rotation basis within the Radiology facilities and ER, OR, OPD and Spl. clinics. The nature of the job necessitates strict adherence to radiation safety regulations due to radiation hazards.
   
   
   
2. Reviews radiologic requests to determine the region(s) to be examined and the radiographic projections to be taken, based on the patient’s history, departmental guidelines, physician’s recommendations, patient’s condition and independent judgment.
3. Arranges for appropriate patient flow to and from assigned clinical area.
4. Transports, prepares and positions patients using care, tact, courtesy and patience
5. Adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of highly technological and costly radiographic equipment and accessories for Radiographic procedure to obtain optimum quality radiographs as prescribed in the departmental procedure manual.
6. Ensures proper patient safety by utilizing special equipment or accessories for radiographic procedure.
7. Reviews processed radiographs for optimal quality and assists in quality control by maintaining film processing units.
8. Prepares and assists in administering contrast media, performing special radiographic procedures or operating specialized radiographic equipment under general supervision of Radiologist
9. Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory of supplies and accessories for the performance of Radiologic procedures.
10. Maintains clean and antiseptic conditions of the radiology equipment and accessories in the working and clinical environment.
11. Demonstrates functional knowledge of sterile and isolation technique in order to prevent contamination.
12. Recognizes change in patient’s condition that requires emergency action and initiates appropriate response.
13. Demonstrates functional knowledge pertaining to potential radiation hazard and appropriate radiation safety regulations.
14. Assists with the instruction of Radiologic Technology staff in aspects of radiologic technology that pertain to the clinical area and attends in-service education and staff development meetings.
15. Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
16. Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Radiologist.

OSH  ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

GENERAL:

1. Responsible to be familiarize, comply and implement the OSHAD-SF& NMCSH Al Ain Internal OSHMS policies and procedures/SOP’s relevant to their department.
2. Staff should notify/report all OSHMS hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses within the premises of NMCSH Al Ain to their supervisor or department OSH Facilitator as per the incident reporting protocol of NMCSH Al Ain.
3. Staff are responsible to assist with the preparation of departmental risk assessment activities and implement the control measure within the timeframe.
4. Staff are responsible to attend applicable department OSHMS training.
5. Staff are not allowed to tamper or misuse any NMCSH Al Ain equipment’s and its property.
6. Comply with all OSH instructions, safe working procedures and signages within the premises of NMCSH-Al Ain.
7. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedure.
8. Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety;
9. Make proper use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc., safety systems and of all Personal Protective Equipment provided for use at work.
10. Participate in required OSH inspection, audit and OSH monitoring programs.

SPECIFIC:

1. Comply with OSHAD, DOH, FNAR and NMCSH policy/procedures related to Radiation Safety.
2. Display commitment for limiting the radiation exposure by wearing appropriate PPE (E.g. Lead Apron) during radiation procedures.
3. Ensure in wearing and maintaining dosimeters during all radiation procedures
4. Assist doctors in the operation radiation systems during procedures
5. Knowing about the Safety Measures need to be discussed to the patients first prior to undergo test like X-ray, CT-Scan etc.
6. Knowing the FANR/Abu-Dhabi Radiation Safety rules and regulations
7. Maintain, test and store the PPE’S  e.g.: Lead apron should be tested for any damage/ defects under fluoroscopy test at least annually and PPE’S like lead aprons should be stored/hanged on appropriate stands.
8. Responsible of the emergency shutting down procedures for radiation equipment’s which should be done in the event of any emergencies.

BCP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsibilities of staff (including all contractors) are:
   1. Achieving an adequate level of general awareness regarding business continuity Being aware of the contents of their service areas disaster recovery plan and any specific role or responsibilities allocated.
   2. Participating actively in the business continuity programme when required
   3. Ensuring information governance standards continue to be applied to data and information during an incident

QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:

1. Completion of higher secondary school, must have successfully completed a 2 years program at an approved school for Radiologic Technology or equivalent certification from the country of origin recognized by DOH.
2. Two (2) years practical experience in Radiologic Technology under a qualified Radiologist.
3. Must have DOH License to practice.
4. Read, write and understand English. Arabic desirable
