Sign Writer – Assistant Technician Full Time

The Job Opportunity

The purpose of the role is to carryout preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance within the civil works section on sign boards and markings, individually or as part of a technical team, within a designated area whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the operations.                                                    Serco has a profound understanding of the region, having been operating in the Middle East since 1947 (for more than seven decades), where it harnesses international expertise, delivered on a local level.

Key accountabilities

• Ability to conform to all general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety & welfare of self and others at work.
• Any other work as assigned by the supervisor / duty engineer to achieve the purpose.
• Can read interpret and design and develop from artwork drawings and conceptual drawings.
• Knowledge in the use & interpretation of Local and International Standards and Regulations.

Tasks’ Experience (Hands-on)        

Tasks such as, but not limited to;

•  Preparation of various types of signages
• Usage of stencils
• Operation of related equipment’s

Specific requirements

• Must have High School Certificate or Industrial Training Institute Certificate / Diploma in Graphic Arts – Sign Writing or equivalent (post high school).
• Should have IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent.
• Holding of valid UAE driving license is desirable.
• Must have minimum three (3) years’ experience within sign writing or similar environment.
• Should be fluent in written and spoken English and have ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders and customers in oral and written English.
• Should have working knowledge in Ms Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint, Outlook) etc.
• Able to perform safely and correctly the following;
  • Design and development of new signage
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PM) routines
  • Corrective maintenance (CM)
  • Breakdown maintenance (BD)
  • Calligraphy (freehand graphics)
  • “A” boards and pavement signs
  • Window lettering and frosting
  • Banners and magnetic signs
  • Digital banners
  • Computer generated graphics
  • Floor marking
