Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management
- Implement and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees and contractors follow established safety requirements.
- Conduct regular workplace and site safety inspections.
- Identify unsafe conditions, practices, and potential hazards.
- Recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety controls and follow up on outstanding actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct and review risk assessments and job safety analyses.
- Identify workplace hazards and evaluate associated risks.
- Recommend suitable control measures according to established safety practices.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate precautions are implemented.
- Review method statements and risk assessments where required.
- Assist project teams in developing safe work procedures.
- Ensure safety controls are maintained throughout work activities.
Site Safety Inspections
- Carry out scheduled and surprise HSE inspections.
- Inspect work areas, equipment, machinery, tools, access routes, and emergency facilities.
- Identify safety deficiencies and communicate findings to responsible personnel.
- Prepare inspection reports and track corrective actions.
- Follow up to ensure identified issues are resolved within agreed timelines.
- Maintain proper records of inspections and safety observations.
Incident & Emergency Management
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences.
- Collect relevant information and prepare incident investigation reports.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective measures.
- Monitor implementation of preventive actions.
- Support emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Participate in emergency drills and evaluate response effectiveness.
- Ensure emergency equipment and procedures are appropriately maintained.
Training & Safety Awareness
- Conduct or coordinate HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training.
- Educate employees about workplace hazards and safe working practices.
- Promote awareness of personal protective equipment requirements.
- Encourage employees to report unsafe conditions and near misses.
- Maintain records of safety training and attendance.
- Support safety campaigns and awareness programs.
Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental aspects of workplace and project activities.
- Support proper waste management and disposal practices.
- Monitor activities that may create environmental risks.
- Promote responsible use of resources and environmentally sound practices.
- Assist with maintaining required environmental documentation and records.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare regular HSE reports, inspection records, safety statistics, and observations.
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation and registers.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and provide updates to management.
- Support internal and external HSE audits.
- Ensure relevant safety documents are properly organized and readily available.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of relevant HSE experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
- Practical experience in risk assessment and hazard identification.
- Knowledge of incident investigation and emergency response procedures.
- Experience conducting safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with site and operational teams.
- Strong leadership and safety-awareness skills.
