An MEP Storekeeper plays an important role in managing materials required for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

Material Receiving

• Receive MEP materials, equipment, tools, and consumables delivered to the store.
• Check delivered materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and approved documents.
• Verify quantities, descriptions, specifications, and material condition.
• Inspect materials for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Prepare or support preparation of Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
• Report damaged, missing, or incorrect materials to the concerned department.
• Coordinate with Procurement regarding delivery discrepancies.
• Ensure received materials are recorded promptly.

MEP Material Handling

• Handle and store electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and related MEP materials appropriately.
• Ensure materials are moved safely to designated storage locations.
• Follow proper handling procedures to prevent damage or wastage.
• Separate materials according to type, specification, project, and usage.
• Maintain suitable storage arrangements for sensitive or delicate materials.
• Ensure tools and equipment are stored securely.
• Follow site safety requirements during material movement.
• Coordinate with site teams for urgent material requirements.

Material Storage & Organization

• Arrange materials in an organized and easily accessible manner.
• Maintain proper identification and labeling of stored items.
• Use racks, shelves, pallets, and designated storage areas appropriately.
• Keep walkways and storage areas clear and safe.
• Protect materials from damage, moisture, dust, and unnecessary exposure.
• Follow appropriate storage procedures for electrical and mechanical components.
• Conduct regular inspections of stored materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized store environment.

Material Issuance

• Issue MEP materials to site teams, technicians, engineers, and project personnel based on approved requests.
• Verify material requests before issuing items.
• Record all material issues accurately.
• Ensure the correct quantity and specification are issued.
• Obtain required signatures or system approvals for material issues.
• Maintain documentation for material movements.
• Monitor frequently issued materials.
• Report unusual or excessive material usage to management.

Stock Monitoring

• Monitor stock levels and material availability regularly.
• Maintain accurate stock records for all MEP materials.
• Track incoming, outgoing, transferred, returned, and damaged materials.
• Identify minimum stock requirements.
• Inform Procurement about materials requiring replenishment.
• Monitor slow-moving and excess stock.
• Highlight shortages before they affect project activities.
• Maintain updated inventory records.

Stock Reconciliation

• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconciliations.
• Compare physical quantities with system and manual records.
• Identify shortages, excess quantities, damaged items, and discrepancies.
• Investigate differences and report findings to management.
• Maintain accurate reconciliation records.
• Assist with monthly and periodic inventory checks.
• Support project stock audits.
• Ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly.

Material Returns & Transfers

• Receive unused or returned materials from project teams.
• Inspect returned items and verify quantities and condition.
• Record material returns accurately.
• Coordinate transfers between project sites, warehouses, and stores.
• Maintain proper transfer documentation.
• Ensure transferred materials are updated in inventory records.
• Report damaged or unusable returned materials.
• Maintain clear records of all material movements.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate MEP store documentation and inventory reports.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports when required.
• Maintain records of GRNs, material issues, returns, transfers, and adjustments.
• Update inventory spreadsheets and relevant systems.
• Prepare material consumption and stock summaries.
• Maintain organized physical and electronic files.
• Provide inventory information to management and project teams.
• Ensure reports are accurate and submitted on time.

Microsoft Excel & Reporting

• Use Microsoft Excel for stock tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Maintain inventory spreadsheets and material registers.
• Prepare stock summaries and movement reports.
• Update quantities and transaction details accurately.
• Use basic Excel formulas for calculations and data checking.
• Maintain clear and well-organized reporting formats.
• Assist management with inventory information.
• Ensure digital records are regularly updated.

Coordination with Project Teams

• Coordinate with Procurement, Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, and Logistics teams.
• Communicate material availability and shortages.
• Follow up on pending material requirements.
• Coordinate delivery and collection schedules.
• Provide accurate stock information to project teams.
• Assist in planning material requirements.
• Support smooth material flow throughout the project.
• Resolve routine store-related issues promptly.

Safety & Store Control

• Follow all health, safety, security, and store control procedures.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of MEP materials.
• Restrict unauthorized access to the store.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and safe storage practices.
• Report damaged materials and unsafe conditions.
• Protect company and project materials from loss or misuse.
• Follow company procedures for inventory control.
• Maintain professional standards at all times.

Requirements

• Experience in MEP material handling and store control.
• Good knowledge of material receiving, issuance, stock monitoring, and reconciliation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting.
• Able to maintain accurate material records and prepare reports.
• Previous construction or project experience is preferred.
• Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general MEP materials.
• Good knowledge of inventory control procedures.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
