ABOUT THE JOB

• We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Accountant to support the finance and accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities.
• Assist with the completion of month-end bookkeeping and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and accounting schedules.
• Post journal entries accurately into the accounting system and maintain updated financial records.
• Assist with preparing documentation required for VAT returns and other tax-related accounting activities.
• Maintain proper filing and archiving of financial documents for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
• Support the finance team during annual audits by preparing requested schedules, records, and supporting documentation.
• Work closely with accountants and other departments to ensure accounting information is complete and accurate.
• Handle additional accounting and administrative tasks as assigned by management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with month-end bookkeeping and closing activities.
• Prepare and post journal entries into accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Zoho.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting accounting schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of invoices, receipts, payments, expenses, and other financial transactions.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of VAT return files and supporting documents.
• Prepare information required for management reporting and financial analysis.
• Assist with bank, supplier, customer, and ledger reconciliations when required.
• Ensure accounting documents are properly filed, archived, and maintained.
• Support the preparation of documentation and schedules for annual audits.
• Review accounting entries and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist senior accountants with routine accounting and reporting activities.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
• Complete other ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks as required.

ABOUT YOU / REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting-related position.
• Qualification or certification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a relevant discipline is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Practical experience with at least one accounting system such as QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho, or similar software.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles.
• Knowledge of financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and VAT documentation.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and data integrity.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple accounting tasks.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
