Accounts Payable Accountant Full Time

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume supplier invoices accurately, ensuring proper approvals, supporting documents, and compliance with internal policies.

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice receipt, validation, batching, payment runs, and issuance of remittance advice.

• Maintain and update vendor master data, ensuring appropriate controls during vendor onboarding and banking detail changes.

• Reconcile the accounts payable subledger with the general ledger on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to short payments, duplicate invoices, unapplied credits, and variances.

• Coordinate closely with procurement, operations, claims, IT, and other internal teams to resolve invoice, purchase order, and system-related issues.

• Support month-end closing activities, including accrual preparation, AP aging review, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing accurate documentation and explanations in line with control standards.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to AP efficiency, turnaround time, and accuracy.

• Recommend and support process improvements to enhance automation, efficiency, and accuracy within the AP function.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control frameworks.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounts payable experience; experience in insurance or financial services is an added advantage.

• Strong understanding of accounts payable fundamentals, approval workflows, and general ledger coding structures.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic reconciliation work.

• Ability to manage high invoice volumes while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proven ability to follow up effectively, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Professional Competencies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with vendors and internal stakeholders.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Knowledge of insurance operations such as claims, underwriting, and policy administration, along with related vendor types, is highly desirable.
