Key Responsibilities

POS & Transaction Handling

• Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
• Process cash, credit card, debit card, and other approved payment methods.
• Scan products and verify prices before completing transactions.
• Issue accurate receipts to customers.
• Ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the system.
• Check promotional prices, discounts, and approved offers where applicable.
• Maintain accuracy when handling large volumes of transactions.
• Report POS errors or technical issues to the supervisor promptly.

Cash Management

• Manage the assigned cash drawer responsibly.
• Count cash accurately at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Verify cash received against POS transaction records.
• Maintain sufficient change for daily operations.
• Follow company procedures for cash handling and security.
• Report cash discrepancies immediately to the supervisor.
• Assist with daily cash reconciliation when required.
• Maintain confidentiality and security when handling company funds.

Refunds & Exchanges

• Process approved refunds, returns, and exchanges according to company policy.
• Verify receipts and transaction details before processing refunds.
• Ensure refund amounts are entered correctly into the POS system.
• Obtain required authorization for restricted or exceptional transactions.
• Explain return and exchange procedures clearly to customers.
• Maintain proper documentation for refunds and exchanges.
• Report unusual or suspicious transactions to management.
• Ensure all adjustments are properly recorded.

Customer Service

• Welcome customers with a friendly and professional attitude.
• Assist customers with checkout-related questions.
• Respond to customer queries regarding prices, payments, receipts, and promotions.
• Handle complaints calmly and professionally.
• Direct customers to the appropriate department when additional assistance is required.
• Maintain a positive customer experience throughout the transaction.
• Provide accurate information and avoid unnecessary delays.
• Build positive relationships with regular customers.

Checkout Area Management

• Keep the checkout and surrounding area clean, organized, and presentable.
• Ensure POS equipment and payment terminals are properly maintained.
• Arrange receipts, bags, stationery, and other checkout supplies.
• Report equipment problems or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain an efficient checkout environment during peak periods.
• Ensure customer queues are managed professionally.
• Follow workplace cleanliness and housekeeping procedures.

Stock & Store Operations

• Assist with stock checks and inventory-related activities when required.
• Support colleagues with product verification and price checking.
• Report damaged, missing, or incorrectly priced products.

• Follow instructions regarding product handling and storage.

Safety & Security

• Report security concerns to the supervisor immediately.
• Follow emergency and workplace safety procedures.

ISO & Company Standards

• Follow relevant ISO standards and internal operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate transaction records and required documentation.
• Follow established quality and customer service procedures.
• Participate in internal checks or audits when required.
• Ensure checkout processes meet company standards.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and store management.
• Support continuous improvement in checkout operations.
• Maintain professional standards throughout the working day.

Daily Reporting

• Assist with daily sales and transaction reconciliation.
• Maintain accurate records of cash, card, refunds, exchanges, and other transactions.
• Report discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
• Provide required transaction information to management.
• Assist with end-of-shift closing procedures.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• 2–3 years of cashier or customer-facing experience, preferably in retail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
