Senior Accountant Full Time

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Accounting

• Manage and maintain the General Ledger (GL) and ensure accurate accounting entries.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
• Ensure accounting records are maintained according to established procedures.
• Review account balances and investigate unusual or incorrect entries.
• Maintain complete and reliable financial records.
• Ensure all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Compile financial information for management reporting.
• Prepare supporting schedules and account reconciliations.
• Ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
• Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by management.
• Review financial data and highlight significant movements or discrepancies.
• Assist management in understanding financial performance and trends.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare and review closing journal entries.
• Ensure accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other adjustments are properly recorded.
• Complete account reconciliations before closing.
• Investigate and resolve outstanding accounting issues.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to obtain required financial information.
• Ensure closing activities are completed accurately and on schedule.

Reconciliations & Financial Controls

• Perform and review bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Identify discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
• Review subsidiary ledgers against General Ledger balances.
• Maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes.
• Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
• Monitor accounting processes to reduce errors and financial risks.

Financial Analysis & Planning

• Conduct financial and variance analysis to identify significant trends.
• Compare actual financial results against budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting activities.
• Analyze income, expenses, cash flow, and other financial indicators.
• Prepare management information to support business decisions.
• Identify areas for improved financial performance and cost control.
• Provide meaningful insights based on financial data.

Audit & Compliance

• Support internal and external audits.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Respond to auditor queries and coordinate required information.
• Ensure accounting practices comply with IFRS/GAAP, as applicable.
• Support compliance with UAE VAT and applicable tax regulations.
• Ensure company accounting policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain complete and audit-ready financial records.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax requirements.

Accounting Systems & ERP

• Monitor accounting systems and ERP processes.
• Review system-generated accounting information for accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting.
• Support automation and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure appropriate controls are maintained within accounting systems.
• Assist with system enhancements and implementation projects when required.
• Maintain data integrity across financial systems.

Team Supervision

• Supervise, guide, and review junior accounting staff.
• Allocate accounting tasks according to workload and priorities.
• Review work performed by junior team members for accuracy.
• Provide coaching and practical guidance on accounting procedures.
• Support team members in resolving accounting issues.
• Encourage professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Monitor team performance and ensure deadlines are met.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Procurement, HR, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Obtain required financial information and supporting documentation.
• Resolve accounting queries and discrepancies with relevant departments.
• Communicate financial requirements clearly and professionally.
• Support cross-functional projects involving finance and accounting.
• Maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in a senior accounting or financial accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of General Ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Good understanding of IFRS/GAAP, VAT, and applicable tax regulations.
• Strong experience in bank and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Knowledge of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are an advantage.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
