Estimation Engineer Full Time

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation

• Prepare accurate and detailed project cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements.
• Review project documents carefully to understand scope, materials, quantities, and technical requirements.
• Calculate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and other project-related costs.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for tender and project proposals.
• Ensure all quantities and rates are calculated accurately.
• Identify potential cost risks and highlight significant variations.

Quantity Take-Off

• Perform detailed quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and project specifications.
• Review architectural, structural, MEP, and other relevant drawings as applicable.
• Prepare material quantity schedules and cost summaries.
• Verify quantities against BOQs and technical documentation.
• Identify missing items, discrepancies, or scope gaps before finalizing estimates.
• Coordinate with technical teams to clarify drawing and quantity requirements.

Tender & Proposal Preparation

• Study tender documents and prepare commercial and technical estimates.
• Analyze project scope, specifications, schedules, and contractual requirements.
• Prepare competitive quotations and pricing proposals.
• Ensure tender submissions meet client requirements and deadlines.
• Assist in preparing commercial comparison sheets and pricing summaries.
• Maintain records of submitted tenders and estimation documents.

Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination

• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Request updated prices for materials, equipment, and services.
• Compare quotations based on price, specifications, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Maintain a database of supplier and subcontractor rates.
• Negotiate or coordinate pricing information with vendors when required.
• Ensure quotations used in estimates are current and commercially reasonable.

Cost Analysis

• Conduct detailed cost analysis and price comparisons.
• Review historical project costs and market rates to support accurate estimation.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization.
• Monitor changes in material and labor costs.
• Prepare alternative pricing options where required.
• Provide recommendations to management regarding project pricing and cost risks.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate estimation files, BOQs, quotations, calculations, and supporting documents.
• Prepare estimation reports and cost summaries for management review.
• Update pricing databases and estimation templates regularly.
• Ensure all calculations are properly documented and easy to verify.
• Maintain confidentiality of commercial and project information.
• Support the preparation of internal cost reports.

Team Coordination

• Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, project, finance, and management teams.
• Clarify technical and commercial requirements before finalizing estimates.
• Assist project teams with budget-related queries.
• Provide estimation support during project negotiations and revisions.
• Perform additional estimation and commercial duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant Estimation Engineer experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Strong understanding of project estimation and costing principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing BOQs and performing quantity take-offs.
• Good knowledge of material, labor, subcontractor, and equipment costing.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with estimation software or ERP systems is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
