Key Responsibilities

Central Store Operations

• Manage daily operations of the central warehouse/store efficiently.
• Receive construction materials, tools, equipment, and other supplies.
• Verify received materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and supporting documents.
• Check quantities, specifications, and condition of materials before accepting deliveries.
• Arrange materials systematically for easy identification and retrieval.
• Ensure proper storage conditions for different types of construction materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized central store.

Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate inventory and stock records for all materials and equipment.
• Record material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
• Monitor stock levels and identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and critical materials.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with system records.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and report them to management.
• Prepare inventory reports and stock summaries when required.
• Ensure minimum and maximum stock levels are maintained according to project requirements.

Construction Material Management

• Maintain strong knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
• Properly identify, categorize, label, and store materials.
• Handle materials such as cement, steel, pipes, fittings, electrical items, plumbing materials, tools, safety equipment, and other construction supplies.
• Monitor the condition of stored materials and report damaged or expired items.
• Ensure materials are protected from weather, damage, contamination, and unauthorized access.
• Follow appropriate storage and handling procedures for heavy and sensitive equipment.

Material Issuing & Distribution

• Issue materials and equipment to project and site teams based on approved requests.
• Verify material requisitions before issuing stock.
• Maintain proper records of all material issues and returns.
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, storekeepers, and project teams regarding material requirements.
• Arrange material transfers between the central store and project sites.
• Ensure issued quantities are properly documented and updated in inventory records.
• Monitor returned materials and reusable equipment.

Documentation & ERP Records

• Maintain accurate store documentation and inventory records.
• Prepare Goods Received Notes (GRNs), Material Issue Vouchers (MIVs), Material Receipt Vouchers (MRVs), and other store documents when applicable.
• Maintain delivery notes, purchase orders, material requisitions, and transfer records.
• Update inventory information in ERP or inventory management systems.
• Ensure documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
• Provide stock information and documentation during audits or management reviews.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with procurement, accounts, project, logistics, and site teams.
• Inform procurement teams about low-stock and urgently required materials.
• Assist accounts teams with documentation required for invoice verification.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly store reports.
• Report material shortages, excess stock, damaged items, and discrepancies to management.
• Support project teams in planning material availability.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all warehouse safety and material handling procedures.
• Ensure safe stacking and storage of construction materials.
• Maintain clear access pathways and emergency areas.
• Use appropriate equipment and safety procedures when handling heavy materials.
• Ensure unauthorized personnel do not access restricted store areas.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or equipment immediately.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and safety standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Central Storekeeper.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
• Experience in a construction company is mandatory.
• Previous experience managing a central warehouse or construction store is preferred.
• Good knowledge of inventory control and stock management.
• Experience handling material receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
• Knowledge of store documentation and inventory procedures.
• Experience with ERP or inventory management software is an advantage.
• Good Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple material requirements efficiently.
